Mourning the Loss
Saturday, June 11, 2016

~~“Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!” ~ taken from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. With deep sorrow, the Officers and Members of the Hartly Vol Fire Co announce the passing of Active Member and Fire Police Tom Maguire Sr.  Tom was very active within the organization heading up the Special Fundraising Committee which brought our monthly breakfast to you all, for many years. He was also our most active Fire Police for multiple years, many nights handling the road assignments by his self. Many in the company will remember Tom for always being willing to help anyone if he was able, at any time, with no questions. Others will remember the brightest blue lights that pierced through the dark night.
John Taylor said “While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil.” Tom’s willingness to help is a trait that he passed along to his family, many of which are also members of the company: sons Tom Jr. and Mark, both Firefighters, daughter Amanda, EMT, and daughter-in-law Amy, Ambulance Captain, have all served with Tom through the years. Please keep all of his family in your thought and prayers. To the family we leave with words from Emily Dickinson “Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality.” RIP Tom.
