First Due Working Structure Fire

In the evening hours of June 31st, Hartly's volunteers were alerted along with Station 45 (Clayton) and QAC Md. Station 6 (Sudlersville) for a working structure fire in the 2000 block of Downs Chapel Road. Command 51 (Chief Connors) arrived on location and reported a 20x20 outbuilding involved with exporsure to a nearby residence. Once 51-2 arrived on location, crews placed two hand lines in service and began to protect the exposure and extinguish the fire. Crews from 51, 45 and 6 operated for approximately 1 hour hitting hot spots and preforming overhaul. Once the scene was placed under control, all returned to service with the scene turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshalls office. Chief Connors had the Downs Chapel Road command.
